A truly inspirational woman who touched the hearts of so many people. Who was so vocal and spoke out to what she believed in. She will be and is a huge miss❤. RIP Katie gone but never forgotten 💔 xxx

I have known Katie for a long time, back when her and Lauren were kids in the Avenue. Katie and her other side kick Lisa, always happy giggling and planning things... that never changed over the years. Katie grew up to be a fantastic and proud wife and Mam. Always seemed to be on a crusade for something, never herself, more a company that needs help or community project, the residents page, the park, even getting better broadband for the area, she never tired of it all. When she got ollie the dog we used to walk together (training ollie to not eat dogs) and it was great as we yapped constantly, Katie was very easy to talk to and never a silence, think sometimes we forgot the training. There was never any pity, there deserved to be after what she went through these last few months but there wasn’t, it was positive from the start and sadly to the end. A truly lovely lass, a truly big miss to our world ❤️

I met Katie through my friend ashleigh she came to toddlers at the Holyoake at pelaw she would always make the effort to start a conversation with everyone there, our friendship went from there we would meet up at play areas with the kids running wild having fun while me Katie and ashleigh put the world to rights over a latte. she always had the biggest smile on her face. X

Where do I even start. Going through memories of the last 18 years has been bittersweet. They’ve made me smile and made me sad. From just being colleagues starting our first day at work together and car sharing walking over the high level bridge scared in the dark, legging it for the one train an hour home which Katie would recite the journey along with the tannoy, new all the stops to London by heart, to buying our first houses together, planning weddings together, the hours and hours of phone calls to each other, falling pregnant and sharing names with each other, to days out with the kids over the years. Katie was there when my marriage broke down and I was a mess and would always remind me of what a brilliant job I was doing, through uni she supported me keeping in touch and reminding me I could do it. Our jokes that we were like long lost sisters with our stress head ways. Our absolute shit luck with cars and we would dread MOT day. The random texts asking advice about decor, fashion, even to where to put baubles on the Christmas tree. I find myself looking through her pictures now and I remember the back story to a lot of the photos she had posted. Sat in tears now just to think I’ll never get that random text from her, got so much to tell her that she’ll never know. I’ll never see ‘Katie liked your photo’ or ‘Katie commented on your post’ life’s so unfair and I’ll always miss you xxx

I have loads of memories that I’m going to write every so often. 3 months after my 17th Birthday I found out I was pregnant, I kept it a secret for a further month then one night on MSN messenger I sent Katie a message telling her and she said ‘get round my house now’ so I went round and she made me wee in to a bottle and the next day she dropped it in to the doctors on her way to work and when she came home later on she said I had to tell Mam which i couldn’t do so I hid upstairs and she told Mam and I was told to come downstairs and they both just hugged me. She was there for me through out my pregnancy, supported me and was my labour partner. I couldn’t of done it without you Katie you were there for me no matter what and I’ll be forever grateful ❤️

Katie and I initially met in hospital. She was in the next bed to me on the maternity ward and little did we know that was the start of a lovely friendship between us and our little boys. Katie and I would see each other regularly at toddler groups and our little boys started school together. She was always keeping all of us mums and dads organised and on top of everything. She would go above and beyond to help anyone she could. She had the most beautiful personality and would talk to everyone. She made everyone feel at ease. I miss her so much. I still can’t believe that I will never see you again Katie. But I will try to fulfil your wish to give our birthday buddies the best birthdays possible. But I’ll never be able to do what you did. We are truly missing an angel on earth. I just hope you are at peace wherever you are ♥️

From Emma Stevens x I feel like although I didnt see Katie apart from the odd toy drop off, we always still talked through Facebook whether it be commenting on posts especially of the kids! Her reminding me new episodes of Waterloo Road was on, talking about lauren getting pregnant young then our sarah the next year, it just felt like I still knew her well, I always loved being around Katie as a kid always looked up to her she taught me how to be a fan of boy bands, how to make up dances, melting chocolate in the microwave cos it tasted better and thinking people who had a bath were filthy...just why would you sit in your own filth lol My mam was talking about the play at the centre we did that Katie wrote❤ and the whole time thinking of these tiny memories it makes me so emotional knowing its not a tiny patch on what you as a family have lost, she really was a diamond xxx

I worked with Katie at npower - we were both working part time as had small children. She was always smiling & positive. Her love for her family was number 1 & I just remember how she was always making sure how Fletcher had every opportunity (something I saw with Bryce when he came along). It was lovely to keep in touch after we both left & was heartbroken to hear of her illness then untimely passing. She will be remembered fondly by so many & rightly so. RIP beautiful ❤️

My first memory of Katie is my favourite. Celebrating her 21st birthday. Katie you were always the life and soul of the party and your 21st was no different. Me and Lauren on the blue wkd (12 years old) you on the stage singing papa don't preach. I'm gunna miss your smile your laugh your really good advice. Still doesn't feel real that you aren't here. Surely this is just a nightmare. You sometimes don't realise how much someone means to you untill they are gone. Love you Katie and thankyou for all the memories xxx

I haven’t really known Katie all that long however when we first starting talking at the school she could remember me when I was little from being around my Grandma. As soon as we got talking we became really friendly and honestly what a lovely caring lady you are. You helped me so much with homeschooling with Ari in the first lockdown sending me ideas honestly I don’t know how you did half the stuff you did with Bryce! Totally amazing! I will never forget sitting up until 12pm with you texting waiting to see if the kids would get into the school I was a nervous wreck and you kept me calm and told me everything would be absolutely fine which it was! Your lovely messages kept me calm and hopeful to the run up of it. The amount of lovely ideas and videos you did for the school during the first lockdown was incredible, you always where the first to suggest things and would happily take on anything for someone else. You are such an amazing person Katie and you will be missed massively. 🤍

I haven’t know Katie for all that long however once we started chatting at the school she said she had recognised me from when I was younger from being around my Grandma. I’ve never met such a caring, helpful amazing person! You helped me so much during the first lockdown with work for Ari and sending me all the amazing work you did with Bryce! I will never forget how lovely you where when we where due to find out if the kids would get into the school. You sat up with me texting until 12pm checking for an update telling me everything would be absolutely fine and keeping me calm with your lovely messages. You where the first to suggest lovely things over Facebook for the school/teachers and would do anything for anyone. You are such an amazing, caring women Katie and honestly you will be so so missed.

Katie was the most happiest, loveliest person. She helped me choose a name for my littlest boy - I’ll never forget that and she will be in my memory and heart forever.

Ive know katie from her been a toddler. Katie was a happy child always smiling and lots of energy. She would look after all the children in the village keeping them safe and alert there parents if there was danger. My memory of katie was when i use to babysit her and lauren katie was at hand to keep me right . I had my daughter katie would often take great care of her. Katie was the village hero .Such a pleasure to of known her . One great big heart.

Katie was so passionate about the things she believed in and transforming this area, our kids are going up in a better village because of her strength and determination and I will alway be grateful for that xxx
